“I asked a lot of questions at the front desk before I booked, and every answer was the same one the doctor gave me later.”
Frequently asked questions
Plain answers before your first visit.
What happens at the first visit?
You talk with your doctor about your history and what you want from care. Your doctor then examines how you move, explains what was found and what the options are, and treats only if you agree. Plan on 45 to 60 minutes.
What are the risks of an adjustment?
Some people feel sore or tired for a day or so afterward. Rare, serious problems have been reported, including a tear in an artery in the neck, which can cause a stroke. Your doctor explains the risks before treating you, and you can decline any technique. If you have a sudden severe headache or neck pain, new weakness or numbness, or trouble speaking or seeing, call 911 or see a physician first.
Will it hurt?
Most people feel pressure and sometimes a stretch. Some feel sore afterward, like after a workout. Tell your doctor if anything is uncomfortable, and they will change what they are doing or stop.
How many visits will I need?
Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and reviews it with you as you go. We do not set a number of visits in advance.
Do you take my insurance?
We bill many PPO plans, and coverage for chiropractic visits differs from plan to plan. Our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit. The How fees work page explains the rest.
What if I do not use insurance?
If you do not use insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. Ask us, and we give you a written estimate in advance, before your first visit.
Do I need X-rays?
Only when medically necessary. If your doctor thinks an image would help, they explain why and what it would cost before it is taken. Bring any recent imaging you already have.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Yes. Children are seen with a parent in the room, and your doctor explains what is and is not done. During pregnancy we use gentle, low-force methods, such as the Webster technique. We make no health claims for pregnancy or childhood.
What if I have seen another provider?
Tell us. With your permission we can share notes with them, and your doctor will say if another kind of provider would be a better first step.
What is the cancellation policy?
To change or cancel a visit, call us as early as you can. Ask the front desk about the practice's cancellation policy.
